The Jin-Style Furniture Museum

The Shanxi Tangrenju Jin-Style Furniture Museum is located in Dongniu Village, Nanjia Town, Xiangfen County. As the province’s first museum dedicated to showcasing Jin-style furniture and architectural culture, its establishment and operation have filled a gap in the collection, exhibition, promotion, and popularization of Shanxi’s traditional furniture and architecture. It plays a significant role in excavating, protecting, promoting, and inheriting Jin-style culture.

The museum covers a total area of 9,000 square meters. Its planning began in 2000, with trial operation starting in 2011. It officially opened to the public in 2014, obtained approval from the Shanxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration in December 2017, and received confirmation from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Civil Affairs in February 2018. In 2021, the museum arranged its collections for exhibition and has since gradually enriched and improved its displays.

The museum houses over 5,000 artifacts reflecting classical Jin-style home culture, including antique furniture, inscribed plaques, household shrines, brick carvings, and stone carvings. These items serve as valuable references for understanding and researching traditional Chinese home culture. Since its opening, the museum has garnered widespread attention and acclaim from various sectors of society. The number of visitors has increased year by year, its influence has expanded, and its reputation has grown steadily. It has become an important platform and window for promoting and showcasing Shanxi’s cultural heritage.
